A hand-painted sand dollar ornament depicting a Maine lighthouse scene. The natural sand dollar has been painted with a coastal landscape showing a white lighthouse with a red-roofed keeper’s house perched on a rocky cliff above crashing ocean waves. Seagulls fly in the blue sky above. The ornament hangs from a white ribbon with a gold wire hook.
Item history or significance
Souvenir from a 2018 trip to Maine. The box is labeled “MAINE 2018 LIGHTHOUSE.” The painting appears to depict a classic New England lighthouse, possibly Nubble Light or a similar iconic Maine lighthouse.
